About C.G.

C.G. Baerga  is a passionate storyteller and creator of epic adventures for middle-grade readers. Growing up, he enjoyed fantastical stories from Star Wars to Lord of Rings taking his imagination to world he had never seen before. Now, he brings those worlds to life through writing. When not crafting stories, C.G. enjoys volunteering at his local church, camping, home automation projects, and learning new technologies. He lives in Rockwall, TX with his wife and two kids.

His writing journey

His journey as an author began in the shadow of one of his family’s darkest seasons. Their son suffered a traumatic brain injury, thrusting him and his wife into the challenging and uncharted world of caring for a child with a neurological condition. Before this, his dream of becoming a writer was just that—a dream, deferred and distant. Yet, in the midst of heartbreak, he found that tragedy often strips away procrastination and excuses, leaving nothing but the rawest, truest self.

The three years that followed were a crucible of tears, trials, and faith. Through it all, one unshakable anchor kept the family from falling apart: their faith in God.

It was during this time that The Prince Who Can’t Be King, the first book in his series, began to take shape. Born from the fantastical bedtime stories he told his son to comfort him during sleepless nights, the book reignited a long-forgotten ember in his heart—the desire to create, to inspire, to give voice to hope.

As the second act of his life unfolded, he faced the giant of despair that loomed before him—not with his own strength, but with the strength only Christ could provide. The words of Genesis 50:20 resonate deeply with him: “But as for you, you meant evil against me; but God meant it for good.”

He writes not just to entertain but to bring light into dark places, to offer blessing and hope to the unexpected, and to remind us all that even in the most challenging times, there is a story of redemption waiting to unfold.

About his pen name…

His pen name is a tribute to his grandfather, a remarkable poet, journalist, and speechwriter who served Felisa Rincón de Gautier (a.k.a. Doña Fela), the mayor of San Juan, Puerto Rico, during the 1960s. The initials “C.G.” stand for Carlos Guzman—a name they share, linking our lives across generations. “Baerga,” his grandfather’s second last name, reflects the rich traditions of Spanish naming culture.

By adopting his name, C.G. honor his legacy and creativity, carrying forward the spirit of storytelling and artistry that he embodied.
